These barbaric practices, sometimes discussed under the euphemisms “female circumcision” or “genital alteration,” are defended by moral relativists as honored traditions in cultures beyond western understanding.
Our daughters, the world’s daughters, are far more important than a PC stance that tolerates their torture and mutilation. Writing in Huffington Post, Hilary Burrage, one of the statement’s seven authors, is spot on: “The basic human rights of children must always over-ride the ‘cultural’ sensitivities of adults.”
